My journey to raw food started over seven years ago while living in California.  At that time I had chronic diverticulitis and candida and was suffering with extreme fatigue.  I didn’t know what was causing it.  Every time I ate a bite of food I would have to go to the bathroom.  With each bite it got worse.  When I would drink just one glass of wine, I would break out into a crazy itchy rash.  There was a period of time when the fatigue was so bad that I couldn’t even go to the kitchen to prepare food.  I was scared!   I thought I was dying!  I tried finding answers from my doctors but all they could do was prescribe drugs.  My husband and I both, were very disappointed with standard medicine since doctors couldn’t find answers to his fibromyalgia either.  Therefore, we decided to turn to alternative medicine.  That is when my whole world changed.  I was instructed to start eating more vegetables and fruit.  I learned about digestion and how our intestinal tract can become stagnant and full of toxins when we’re not eating the right foods or drinking enough water.  I followed the alternative doctors’ instructions by incorporating more leafy greens into my diet.  I started to heal and was amazed at how quickly my body responded.

Shortly after I began making these changes and feeling better, my husband and I moved to the beautiful island of Maui, Hawaii.  It has been a perfect place to continue our healing process.  Once on Maui, I found an abundance of fresh organic fruits and vegetables everywhere, not just in the markets.  I also learned about the vegan diet by joining the Coronary Health Improvement program through my church.  A vegan diet is strictly plant-based, no meat, no dairy, no animal products whatsoever.  It was not  difficult for me to delete the meat from my diet because I have never been fond of it.  The most difficult challenge for me has been removing cheese and butter.  I took the four week health class at my church and turned right around to volunteer for the next session because I was so inspired.  While volunteering, I learned for the first time in my life where tofu could be found in the local grocery.  Up to this point, I didn’t know where to find healthy food.  Within two months of first hearing about the vegan diet I had stopped eating meats and began to gradually “get off” cheese, sodas, and processed sugar (yes, these for me, were a drug). As I made these changes my energy increased exponentially!!!

I lost some weight and felt fantastic but I still had a lot more weight I wanted to lose. As I progressed by eating healthier, I still struggled with my weight.  One day I got so discouraged that I turned to God.  I fell on my knees and prayed for deliverance from the bondage of being overweight.  It was just the next day when I received God’s answer.  He impressed upon me the raw food lifestyle.  I had heard about raw food while becoming a vegan as I would occasionally hear testimonies concerning raw diets. I became very excited so I started searching the internet for recipes.   I was blown away with the abundance of information out there!  After buying my first raw recipe book almost four years ago, I started dabbling in raw food preparation.  I bought more books, watched DVDs and it wasn’t long before I purchased my first dehydrator.  I was excited because it looked easier than I had previously thought.  That is where my raw food journey began and it continues to this day.

While enjoying this new way of life, God instructed me, very clearly that I must share with others what I have learned.  Since I love entertaining and playing the hostess, I was excited to receive this calling from Him.  I’m passionate about sharing a healthy lifestyle especially now with current dangers of processed foods.  I am always seeking for ways to share with those who are interested.  I hope this website will be a blessing to you on your journey to good health.
